Day #2 - Photo Recap

I don't have much to update this morning, other than Abbi had a good night last night. Rob phoned in at 7:00am this morning and was able to talk to Nurse Chris before she left. She said Abbi slept from when I left (11:00pm) until 2:00pm. Had some apple juice, watched some Dora and was back to sleep until 5:00am. Then she said "we partied" for a while and she's been sleeping ever since. So sweet. That is definitely a nurse who truly improved our hospital experience!

I had originally hesitated at the thought of putting up pictures. Mainly because I found it initially so hard to see Abbi like that. I mean going back a few posts she's playing Pat-A-Cake and smiling up a storm. Not to mention the unending dancing and singing the day before surgery! But last night I realized, she really is doing so well and looking quite good. She's just Abbi with a few extra Band Aids and tubes here and there. So I realized this might be encouraging for people to see her.

We (Marilyn, Gabe & I) are heading up there now for the "afternoon/evening shift" I think today will be fairly important in regards to her recovery. Moving up to the ward is a bit deal. So hopefully I can report some more good news tonight. Still hard to imagine she could be here for another 5-7 days if we go with the surgeons time line. We are right on track with her first surgery in regards to recovery. Within 4 days of her arriving on the ward she was going home. So again, it seems like 6 days in hospital has been our magic number, and it would be so amazing if that were the case again this time!

PS. Just talked to Rob, she was just transferred up to the I.C.E. Room a few minutes ago. She is off the morphine. So slightly more uncomfortable. They still have the chest tube in. The x-ray this morning still showed a bit of fluid around her heart so they want to leave it in a bit longer. Hopefully that can happen sooner than later.

Good news all around!
