Easter Time Texas Hold 'Em

Happy Easter to all you dear readers. I hope it has been a blessed time. One that remembers the true meaning of this time - Christ's sacrifice. And perhaps just a touch of chocolately goodness as well!

Our Easter weekend has been busy. On Friday morning, I did my first gargae sale run of the year. It was great. Abbi came along. At the first stop, after about 5 minutes, she said "OK, bye" to the lady hosting it. I think she was about done garage sale-ing! I put the three addresses into Mapquest, planned my route and off I went. The first one was a bust. The second one, a gold mine. The third didn't have much for sale, but I still managed to find a few things. I'll be posting about my finds in the next few days. Ahh, garage sale season...be still my beating heart!

We spent Friday evening with the Stewart's. Ruth and Dave's friends Lou and Harry were also there (which is becoming quite the holiday tradition, its great). Lovely time as usual. Gammy arranged an Easter Egg hunt for Abbi. I said to keep it to a number that she can easily count to, so she had to look for 10 eggs. She thought it was pretty fun once she got the h
ang of it.In addition to our yummy dinner, we had this delicious Easter Egg cake. Basically everything was edible (well, other than the foil on the eggs), and it was a total piece of art. And freakin' delicious! (*The second picture is Abbi totally caught in the act taking a fingerful of cake. I think she just wanted to see if it was real!)
Then we moved onto our Texas Hold 'Em lessons. Uncle Dave was the dealer and kept all of us rowdy kids in line. Despite the fact that I played the game, I would have to say I still don't have much of it down pat. Big this, Little that, Ante here, Check there...my heads is just spinning thinking of it! But hey, it was a lot of fun! And I learned one thing that I'm sure Rob could have vouched for long ago - I'm terrible at keeping a poker face! Like seriously! I said we need those masks you wear to masquerade balls that cover your eyes...but ones that cover your mouth! Or at least I do!
I love these pictures because it looks like Abbi is right in on the action. She got her own mini deck of cards and poker chips. Of course she didn't understand why she couldn't mix them all up, well unless she was adding to Mommy's pot!
A few other pictures from our evening...
Then on Saturday we were off to Rob's parent's house. He was helping them install a new countertop, as well as a new faucet and sink. I didn't take any before or after pictures, but it looks great. Makes me kind of want one! Because we got there later in the day, Rob wasn't able to finish everything up that he had wanted to, so we decided that Rob and Abbi would spend the night, and Gabe and I would head home.

First we went out for dinner at the Gainford Hotel. Super yummy burgers, and Rob had the best lamb dinner he said he has ever had. Dee-lish!
*I love how in this picture they all have the exact same smirk on their face. So cute!
Afterward Gabe and I headed home. We stopped in at Walmart to pick up some paint supplies. A lot of things in this house were put in only primed, not painted, grr. So it just looks terrible. I was able to get Abbi's closet doors and surrounding trim painted, as well as each of the kid's window trim (which was covered with plastic when we painted their rooms in the winter).

Its funny how just caring for a newborn seems like such a piece of cake. Yet, at the time, when Abbi was brand new, it was such a huge adjustment. It really does get easier as time passes. So just having one kid for the night sure felt like a vacation! Although Gabe is a great baby. So happy. And speaking of Gabe - he turned 4 months old on Friday. What a dapper little fellow!
