We so enjoyed our time with Nana!

The last two weeks have flown by. It seriously feels like I just picked my Mom up from the airport, and then in the same breath I was driving her back. Always a bit of a sad day. This time it especially got to Abbi. For my Mom's entire stay, she was constantly being introduced as "my friend, Nana." They were definitely sidekicks. Abbi would start her day by creeping down into the basement and waking Nana up. And of course while I was at school, and Gabe was napping, it was dedicated Nana & Abbi time. Nana made a point to do a craft every day (seriously, she is the Baby Whisperer). So Abbi was loved up to the brim, and was quite sad to see her sidekick go. Of course, before you go getting all teary-eyed, you must remember she is a three year old, so the sadness didn't last long. The first horse in a field or a tractor or a plane seemed to be plenty of distraction on the way home from the airport.

We were busy. I mean I was of course busy going to school every day for three hours. Seriously people, I realize its only 3 hours, but its like your entire day revovles around it! We couldn't do too much in the mornings as I had to be leaving for downtown by noon. Then I didn't get home until dinner time, so the evenings were often shot. Regardless, we still managed to fill our time and get up to all sorts of fun.

My Mom and I got out for a girl's night which was so special. We had so much fun. We did a bit of a shopping spree. My Mom seemed convinced to spoil me. I got quite a few new pieces of clothing, and the uber cute plaid dress you see below (a new summer fave!). We shopped until the stores closed, and then made our way to the theatre to watch Date Night. Seriously people, one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. We often would miss lines because we were laughing so hard. Mix Tina Fey & the guy from the Office, and hilarity ensues!

Rob and I were able to get out for two dates nights during my Mom's stay (thanks Mom!). Our first night out we popped over to our friend's house to watch a movie. It might seem small, but its something we rarely get to do. It was lovely. Our second date night was kind of our late-anniversary celebration. We went out to a movie (again, a rarity, I think this is the 2nd movie we've seen at the theatre...this year!). We saw Robin Hood. It was good, but being the prequel, I was racking my brain trying to remember the rest of the story. Yes, I know, stole from the rich to give to the poor, but beyond that its still a bit fuzzy.

Then we went out to The Red Piano, which is a restaurant in West Edmonton Mall. I was honestly so thrilled! I've been wanting to try out this restaurant since I heard about it, and it was even better than I imagined. There are two bright red piano's in the centre of the restaurant, or dueling pianos as they call it. The restaurant's decor is fabulous with a Cajun/Louisiana style decor (seriously...I adored the black, white and red theme). The music was awesome. People would request songs, and I'm serious, these guys could play anything! From Billy Joel (Piano Man of course), to Cyndi Lauper, to Neil Diamond, to Rolling Stones. The music was all over the board, and it was so much fun. Everyone sang along, and clapped, some people got up to dance. Just a great old time. I would totally recommend it!

Here are just a few pictures from our two weeks with Nana.

Apparently she's even the "Goose Whisperer." She fed it by hand. (I personally thought the thing was possessed and wasn't all that bothered to see Gabe trying to "feed it" rocks. Ahem...)
A picture of me & the kids at the park. So rare that I get a picture with me in it! Thanks Mom! Dinner at Gammy's one night. The cousins are looking as fab as ever!
A fun day at the pool with Nana. Because what else do you do with Nana, other than go swimming, obviously!
My girl in the pool.
Bubba in the pool.
Afternoon craft time with Nana.
Pre-date night. So nice to have someone actually take a picture of us all dolled up. Thanks Mom!
The dueling pianos.
The fab decor.
Post-date night. Its 12:30am and both of us are feeling pretty tired, although thankfully I don't have to be up at 5:00am! What a trooper my man is!
All in all, we had a great time. Thank you so much Mom for making the effort to come and see us. You made those two weeks so special for all of us, and made it possible for me to take this course. You honestly went over and above. Thank you, thank you! Much love!
