A final look at S-town...

Um, so the weekend happened, which totally screwed up my Saskatoon week. Technically this would be Saskatoon Week - Part 2. But no, I refuse. I'm finishing up my Saskatoon saga and still calling it Saskatoon Week. Don't call the blog police on me...

I thought I would just close with a few random shots from our time away. Oh those glorious days of old! I will admit, I did miss my kids, but there was also this strange freedom that came in those two short days. Knowing there would be no poopy bums awaiting you, no tears in the middle of the night, no nagging or crying. It really was lovely. Not to mention I knew my kids were in good hands and getting some much-appreciated Daddy time, so that always helps to ease a Mommy's mind while she is away.

This Jesus shot is one of the first things you see when you enter the B&B. I think we all found it distracting and humorous all at the same time. One of the blog reviews made sense once we entered, "An excessive amount of religious decor." Its true.
Broadway was where we spent most of our time. A hip little strip with all sorts of cool shops. I'd say similar to Edmonton's Whyte Avenue.
So, so many yummy cheeses and other goodies under one roof. Definitely worth exploring! Although don't take any pictures as the owner will suspect you of being from a competing store and stealing their ideas.
Katrina riding an elephant in Modern Country Interiors. Obviously...
Those cute little tourists.
Beautiful steeple.
The artistry is amazing.
All guarded by a gargoyle...which led to much discussion.
The church right across the street. Not as tall, but I do prefer this one. Less flashy, but incredible at the same time.
The girls being serenaded by statuesque buskers.
Katrina in the "backseat deli" serving up lunch on the way home.
The infamous napkin. We would discuss throughout the day, and if we didn't know the answer to something we would write it on this napkin and go home and google or wikipedia it.

In other Nepper news, we've begun a cleanse, starting today. So really this is breaking news! I did one back in January/February, which was a 15 day-er. I didn't really get the results I wanted (eg, weight loss), but I did have a lot more energy. This one is a 30 day cleanse and both Rob and I are doing it together. In addition to the cleanse you are also supposed to take a fiber supplement, so we will be taking 2 tablespoons of pysillium fiber per day to enhance the cleanse. Now don't get too visual on the subject. The guy we spoke to said that taking this type of fibre is the "humane" way to cleanse. Ugh, shudder...

I suppose I haven't touched much on the weight-loss front lately. Me, nothing really. I've lost 10 lbs since the beginning of the year, but nothing since. Not like I'm complaining, but I sure would like to see better results. We'll see what CleanseSmart brings about!

My husband on the other hand is doing amazing! He's now lost 27 lbs! Incredible hey? I'm so thrilled for him, and I know that he is feeling really good. He has been doing a pH balanced diet (for the most part), and also dipping his toes into the world of veganism. Its fairly incredible to see that such simple diet changes can lead to such rapid weight loss. I wouldn't say that he is more active than he was before, so its been entirely diet related. And while I say simple diet changes, I know its taken a lot of discipline on his part. I keep on teasing him and telling him that he's doing nothing other than reading books and the weight is just melting off. Of course that's how it looks from my perspective, but on his end he's had to be very disciplined when it comes to what he eats.

Rob has read a number of books on the subject of pH balanced eating, a few books on veganism, and also vegetarianism. We even went to a Vegan/Raw Food information night. I can't say our house is entirely meat free. The kids still will have hot dogs, or a chicken breast, or whatever, a few times a week. We are joining in with my cousin in her "Meatless May" challenge. So this month, we will be entirely meat-free (us, not the kids). On the pH balance diet you would try to eat about 80% veggies/nuts/grains and 20% animal products. So no need to be entirely meat-free, although Rob is leaning that way regardless.

So I'm eager to see some cleanse results. Not just for myself, but Rob seems to be on such a roll, and eating so healthy already, I think the cleanse is just going to speed up what he is already doing. I'll see if I can get him to pose for some before/after photos. Don't worry, I won't make him pose in his underwear or something equally hideous. Don't you always find that the ladies in the before and after pictures are wearing some hideous sports bra and shorts that a woman in that size should NEVER be caught in?

  1. I wanted to ask how the weight loss program was going. I take psyllium too in a capsul every day. Vegan would take such organization at first until you get used to it. My carnivore at home would never go for meat free but I've considered it a few times. Sending lots of love. xo
