First off. My cousin, Ruth, gave us this picture for our anniversary (June 5th). At the Stollery hospital and other large venues in the city, they often have this great book fair. The books are priced well and they also have other cutesy things for sale. She showed me this and said she thought I would like it. Months later she gave it to me for our anniversary. I had completely forgotten about it. What a great surprise! So then the dilemma came, what to do with it? We had it hung over a couch, but it just wasn't right. Then it occurred to me (or Rob, we aren't really sure who's idea this was. Team effort perhaps?), to hang it in a corner, from the ceiling.
So off I went yesterday in search of the items needed. Got two brass ceiling hooks at Zellers for $1.79 each. Then I got 190 ft of twine (Because obviously who doesn't need 190 feet of twine?) at Dollarama for, you guessed it, $1!
Rob did all the math. Math is not my strong suit. I was Mr. Osis' math class for three years straight. And each year he just wanted to get me out of his class. I'd always get in the 45-49% range and he'd boost me up over 50% so I could pass (just barely) and get out of his class. Yet, each year, I would be back, failing math, goofing off, skipping class. Oh dear, I was a bad student!
So the darling husband does all my dirty work, when it comes to math that is! Plus, it puts all those years of carpentry school to good use. This is what we came up with. We are pretty pleased with it, and think its kind of a fun way to incorporate this picture into our living room area. Now its just figuring out what to do with the top of the desk!
So while out yesterday, I found this package of 8 screw hooks at Zellers for $1.79. A few coats of Krylon black matte spray paint, and a few jiffy marker touch ups, and here it is. My new entryway mirror/key holder!
Finally, my $6 Value Village score. I went in to use a buy one get one free coupon I had. Got two shirts for $7. Then I thought I better do a quick tour of the store. You never know what you will find (which I think is their slogan!). I came across this sweet IKEA Luns chalk board. Its basically in brand new condition, and it still sells at IKEA for $24.99. So into the entryway it went. Actually hung and measured by yours truly. Rob has had to explain to me how to hang things numerous times, and perhaps its finally starting to stick. Heck, I even used a level for this one!

Glad to hear that Abbi is doing well and you are "hospital free" for a while.
