Color Conundrum

So we used our Airmiles to get a $100 gift certificate to spend at Rona. The time has finally come to paint our living room. I have had the color Ivory in my head for months now. I guess that's a fancy way of saying white. But I don't want white, but I don't want beige. Simple...

Right?

Well, my goodness, there are a gazillion colors out there, and 15 thousand different "shades" of white. And so many finishes, and so many brands. I mean the choices are endless. So now, how does one decide?

I went in today, and looked through CIL's "white's" pamphlet, and immediately fell in love with their Crisp Linen. It felt fresh. Definitely crisp. It was perfect. They couldn't do it in a mini tester for me (which are only $6.99), but could only do a 925mL can. At a cost of $15, I figured what the heck, I could use it to paint some upcoming furniture projects if it doesn't work.

So I've got a few splotches around the living room...
and...
first it looked too white...
and now its looking too yellow!
AHHH!

So anyway, here are some pics. Forgive the quality. I really can't seem to get a good shot, not matter where I shoot from. And I know, most people will say, "Isn't that just white?" No, its not. I'm thinking a warm, inviting, cozy, delicious ivory. Hmm, I can see it now...
Or at least I thought I could!!!

So this is my living room curtain (my colors are deep reds, browns, and beige), and the three colors I was considering. The color that's actually on the wall is the Crisp Linen.
The new color I'm considering - Swiss Coffee. With a name like that, it has to great!
Then I just had to show how much the color changes in different light. Both the same color (the chip I picked the Crisp Linen from), and totally different. This first one is so yellow...
This one so ivory...
What's a girl to do?

  1. Whatever color is beneath the swiss coffee looks quite lovely.
