Consignment Maddness!!!

Well, my day today is all about consigning clothes. Well, no, I suppose its all about tending to my children, but consigning will have to fit in there somewhere! Actually this was my day a week ago too. Its very time consuming, but hopefully worth it. The consignment store I use is called Kid's Stuff/My Favorite Aunts (two sides to the store). Its very trendy and chic. They are very thorough. I mean a spot the size of a pen tip they catch. I would like to see their little area to check items over. I imagine 200W lights!!!

So last week I went in with three boxes of items. I picked up my unwanted items yesterday, and there was only one box coming back to me. Not bad. So then the person who checks them over also leaves little sticky's with reasons why they were not accepted. Which can be quite helpful. That way you know that if you can get that stain out, they might just take it. So last night was a giant bleach wash. This morning (well, more likely this afternoon), I will go through all of them to see if any of the stains came out. They also leave sticky's saying "Fall, Summer," meaning they are in the wrong season. Currently they are accepting Spring, which is a little hard to believe around these parts. Today it's cold and blowing. Ugh. Spring is on its way...right?
*This is my "to iron" pile...eek!

Ooo, what a lovely surprise, my husband just walked in! Thanks to the cold snowyness. A snow day!!! You definitely wouldn't catch me out working daily in this stuff. If I were a carpenter, I think we would have to live in Hawaii! He really is a good man. And now he's changing a poopy bum - you know you married a good one when...

So anyway, that's my mission today. And I will probably have one more load in a few more weeks. I find its a little disastrous around these parts. Our kitchen table starts looking like a clothing store.
So I think I will be at our ironing board for hours! I keep telling the Hubby, craft room, craft room, craft room!

And the funny part is, its all kids clothing and maternity clothes. And I know, I know, what likely comes of this...a pregnancy! You know those women, "yeah, I gave everything away" (or sold it in my case), and then two weeks later the test comes back with two pink lines. Oh well, I figure I'm handy enough I'd be able to round it all up again. And I kept my favorites, which currently has a 70L bin filled to the brim. And thats basically all Abbi's clothes, so I'm sure another little girl would be fine when it comes to clothes. As for Gabe I've only kept two sleepers thus far. Boys clothes are just so much less fun.

I'm on a bit of a clean out mission as of late. We also have a great site here called Earthcycle http://www.edmontonearthcycle.org/ . Basically the idea is to keep stuff out of the landfills, although I must admit it strays from that. Like "Does anyone have coupons to?" or "Looking for tickets to the Britney Spears concert" (I'm sure those would do the world much better in a landfill). Anyway, its a great way to pass on things, or get things. Maybe I will have to do a post on great freecycle (that's what they used to call it, before they got all politically correct) goodies I have picked up! So that has been a great way for us to clear out.

*Below are the giveaway piles. Some of which has been spoken for already!!!

I also plan to do an introduction to the Nepper's post. To let you know who we are. Although I imagine it will just be our Mom's who read this, thanks Moms! And finally, my dislcaimer is that me blogging does not equal child neglect! I was just typing while nursing Gabe, or I plan to write during naptime in the afternoon. Although now that the Hubby is home, I can finish this up (one handed typing really is an art), and post some pics of my consignment maddness.

  1. No one could ever accuse you of child neglect! Look at your organization. I'm envious. Wanna go through my basement too?
