Phew.

I survived my day of madness. Now the week of madness isn't exactly over yet, but I'm feeling as though I can breathe again. The thing about my brain is that it never really stops. So even though I managed to process all those bits and pieces, its still going a mile a minute. But things usually pretty much work out...don't you find? I mean perhaps not always as we'd like them to, but more often than not, its far less dramatic than we expect it to be. Or sometimes...far MORE dramatic than we had hoped.

Take for example, me registering for my courses. I envisioned me leaving in the middle of class, rushing into the library. Staking out the website until the clock struck 6:45pm and voila...a registered student. Well, it turns out, I didn't think the time change would affect this, but it did. So it was actually 7:45pm. Right when my class had a break. Things were looking good until I got to the library and the doors were locked. And the SA had its doors locked. Then I started to panic. I even asked my teacher if I could use his lap top (desperation was at full force here people!). He said he would if he didn't have his class notes on it.

So I proceeded to sit in the hallway, on my cellphone, trying to explain to my husband how to register me. Poor Rob, no pressure...at all, dear! It was going OK until the site essentially froze with the flood of other students doing the same thing. So at that point I knew it was hopeless. I grabbed my bags and proceeded to drive like a madwoman to the downtown library. You bet I found a parking spot. I was so determined it was ridiculous. So I ran inside, found my computer. And registered. Sadly I'm wait-listed, but I'm #1 for both of the courses I super duper need. So I imagine the odds are fairly good I'll get into them. But I think with a little less drama I would have gotten in, no problem.

Hmm, as for other resolved drama in my life? Oh the babysitter girl seems lovely. Quiet, but lovely. The kids seem to like her, and when I came home the other day, Abbi proudly informed me, "Bailey likes In The Night Garden." For those of you with not young children, it is a hideous show on Treehouse with these gross little creatures that are constantly going to sleep. Both Rob and I don't like it. We've told Abbi this. So she was quite pleased to learn her new babysitter is an ally in this department. I'm still not convinced...

Yesterday my cousin and I ventured out to some greenhouses to stock up my garden. I guess I really am behind the times. The first place we went to was closed...for the season! Seriously, its July people! The second place had overpriced, but quite nice herbs, so I have my little herb garden set up. Last night while on my late night birthday party mission at WalMart (yes, I do truly appreciate that in a large city I can be birthday party shopping at 10:45pm!), I picked up a few of the other garden items I wanted. So maybe on the weekend I'll have some time to do a bit more puttering.

On the birthday party front, I'm feeling much more prepared, and at least now I know what I want. So I have a few more places to look for some items, but the kids and I will get up to that tomorrow morning. I think one of the funnest parts of a birthday party is putting together the goodie bags. So many uber cute things to include. Not to mention I actually got a chance to check out the park where are having it, so again, some key things are finally in place.

So life rolls on. Some days filled with more drama than others. I suppose that's what keeps it interesting right? I better go. I have to shower, tidy my house, and make dinner, all before I leave for my course. Political Science...the study of power. I was surprised its not the science of politics. Tonight I learn of Liberalism and Democracy. The fact that the main tenets of liberalism are freedom and equality make it sound good already. And did I mention my teacher introduced himself as a Marxist? "Hi, I'm Dan...and I'm a Marxist." It just gets better and better I say...

  1. You're such a good mama! My kid's birthday goodie bags are going to be shameful! Here have some sticks and flowers from the garden... Oh and maybe a recycled egg carton for those precious rocks you collect...

Glad you are all registered for your classes.

  2. Of course he's a Marxist! No good political science professor would be anything else. I know I would be disappointed if my professor said, "Hi, I'm Dan and I'm a... Republican." Just wait. I bet he's a feminist too.
