Well, if you haven't seen the photo contest results, you'll see that we didn't win. The Hopkins basically spanked us. Them with 350 votes. Us with 275. I'm still fairly impressed we were able to round up 275 votes. Not like we did all the work. A lot of our friends were being pestered by us, who then in turn, pestered their friends. Oh well, it was a good effort.
And for our efforts, did we get anything? You bet, and I'm actually fairly convinced its not all that far off of the first prize. And the best part? They actually never said they would give out other prizes, so this came as a surprise! We won a free photo session and an 11"x14" print. If you'll remember the winner would win a free photo session, a 24" x 36" canvas, and two 11" x 14" prints. So yeah, I'd say we fared pretty well, and I'm still quite thrilled about our winnings.
And while I think my children are adorable, and my husband is handsome, and I am pretty, I'm still not convinced I'd want a 2 foot by 3 foot picture of us in my house. That's nearing movie poster size, and well, that seems to be pushing it, for me anyway. So I'm quite happy with a not-too-small, but not-too-big 11" x 14" photo!
I have great visions of a large photo wall in our stairwell (the one wall is 1.5 stories tall, so maybe 12-15 feet or so. Great dramatic potential). A project which I would like to work on this summer. A good friend set the standard with her stairwell photo wall. All gorgeous black frames, all perfectly spaced. It looks amazing. But...it did take her months of mapping and planning and measuring to get it just right. So I don't think this is a project happens overnight, but one that I've been meaning to do for a long time. So I'm thinking this 11x14 right smack dab in the middle will look amazing!
So I again want to thank you, all our fans and supporters, and also give a shout out to Shandro Photography for hosting this great giveaway. You can check out more of their fab photography on their blog. And the biggest thanks goes out to our dear friend, Jenn, who thought of us in the first place, wrote a lovely and quirky letter about our family, and nominated us for this great prize. Love you girl :)
