Your Hands

I first heard JJ Heller on Edmonton's Christian radio station, Shine 105.9 FM, about a month ago. I immediately fell in love. Her style, her lyrics...just lovely. Something very fresh and different for the often dull Christian music scene. Her sound is very folky. Her voice + a guitar played by her husband Dave (he also does some back up vocals). Some piano. Beautiful.

I snooped her out on the computer, I found her myspace page, I found her home decor blog (You can check it out at http://thelovelylittlethings.blogspot.com/), and hey, she's even my friend on facebook (seriously...I'm 50% famous!). I can't say enough about her music. I thought I would share the lyrics to the first song I heard of hers. Powerful stuff.

Your Hands by JJ Heller
I have unanswered prayers
I have trouble I wish wasn't there

And I have asked a thousand ways
That You would take my pain away

That You would take my pain away

I am trying to understand
How to walk this weary land
Make straight the paths that crookedly lie
Oh Lord, before these feet of mine
Oh Lord, before these feet of mine

When my world is shaking Heaven stands
When my heart is breaking
I never leave Your hands

When You walked upon the Earth
You healed the broken, lost, and hurt

I know You hate to see me cry
One day You will set all things right

Yea, one day You will set all things right

When my world is shaking
Heaven stands
When my heart is breaking
I never leave Your hands
Your hands

Your hands that shape the world
Are holding me, they hold me still

Your hands that shape the world

Are holding me, they hold me still

When my world is shaking
Heaven stands
When my heart is breaking
I never leave You when...
When my world is shaking
Heaven stands
When my heart is breaking
I never leave...
I never leave Your hands

I realize that just reading the lyrics doesn't give the full impact, but you can check out her My Space page where she has a number of her most fabulous songs to listen to, free of charge! I often will open it up and just have it playing while I'm on the computer. Here's the link http://www.myspace.com/jjhellermusic

Also if you are a fan of "One Tree Hill" and you heard a fantabulous song on it last night, it was likely hers. Just remember...you heard it here first ;)

PS. I thought I would end this one with something to smile about. I hope you enjoy Abbi's most recent attempt of putting on her panties while being terribly distracted by the TV (seriously, who even knew that was possible?). Priceless!

  1. Holly! I am so glad I didn't have to be traumatized by my mom putting pictures of my bum up on the internet! Don't worry, Abbi...we will get her back one day...
