I haven't joined a blog party in a long time. I blame it on the school. Or perhaps winter. Whatever it was, I'm so glad to be here! I was out in the yard a few days go (in a T-SHIRT, a t-shirt people!!!), I can finally see our grass again, albeit brown, regardless is grass! This house needed a touch of Spring, so I started with my mantel. Now for those of you who have been to my house I know you are thinking, "um, what mantel Holly?" Well, its not exactly a mantel, but a TV armoire is the closest thing I get to a mantel, so here it is...
My Springy Botanical "Mantel"
I wish I was brilliant enough to come up with a word like Botanical, but the little do-dads in the glass bowl came in a box with "Something or Other Botanicals" written on it. Sounds fancy enough. I threw on the starfish* for good measure.
*No starfish was injured in the making of this blog post. OK, well maybe one, but I didn't personally kill it.
I just used it on my mantel ;)
My TV armoire is from IKEA. I do love it, despite its giantness. Its brilliant all of the TV/DVD/VHS junk this puppy can hide!
The botanically goodness...
A good friend had given me flowers almost a month ago now, but two of the blooms were ones that could be dried. So I figured they would add a lovely touch of Spring. I took two jars from my recycle bin, took off the labels, and voila, adorable little vases...
Didn't have enough glass beady's for this one, but I thought the raffia bow looked cute...
And its always great when you can find a little job for a little helper!
(Abbi put the beads in the jars, hours of fun!).
My glass doorknobs that Rob swiped off a job site last year. The door was about to be thrown out, but my man rescued these beauties for me. Sigh, be still my beating heart!
(And yes, I asked if the door was worth salvaging, but he said no, ugly door, beautiful knob).

A friend made this card for me a few weeks ago. I love it, love the colors, and thought it went perfectly. Scrapbooking really is fab. Not like I do it, but I do appreciate others efforts!
I think this side is a little too busy, so once the kids naps or quiet time is done, I'm thinking we will head to the park with some shears and I'll try to round up some branches to put in the vase. As much as love my little rattan apples, they are a bit too much here (I think).
I topped the "mantel" with some burlapy goodness for an earthy/beachy touch.
Over on top of my computer desk there is this empty space, so I figured it needed some lovin' too. So I put up these three candles and our clock. Simple, yet lovely. The picture has been hanging there for quite awhile. I love it hung from the ceiling. Something different, something fun.
A friend had been trying to sell these candles and holders on kijiji for ever and when I stopped by her house the other night I saw them in the Goodwill pile, so I was all over that! I do plan to pay her as I do love them (and they smell sooo good!), but I had forgotten about them. Seriously people, one woman's trash is another woman's treasure!
So there you have it folks. A Spring "mantel" Nepper style. Head on over to the Nester's to check out some other lovely mantels. There are some beauties!
