More Wow...

Yup, its true. I live a life of "wow." Or at least lately I do. It seems like life is always throwing something my way, thankfully its all been pretty swell lately. No real complaints here (well, OK, one or two, but overall things are pretty good!). But yeah, my "wow" of the weekend?
I'm meeting my bio-Mom, Sheri! Like I said...wow!

There had been talk of her and her boyfriend coming into town to pick up a boat he had just bought, but when it turned into Thursday and I hadn't heard anything I figured it wasn't happening. But late yesterday afternoon I had a message on my machine, confirming the very thing I have wanted, longed for, thought about, basically all of my life. Kind of crazy.

I'm not really all that nervous. I think mainly because we have had some form of contact over the past 7 months (since the initial phone call). We called and I sent a few letters in that time. But now that she is on facebook, well, I really feel that has brought our relationship to a whole new level. We can chat more regularly, and keep up with each others lives.

So I'm excited. I feel like she has been able to answer so many questions already, so I don't really have any super burning questions for her. I'm just excited for her to meet the kids and Rob (she will be coming to our house). She was basically over the moon to hear that she has Grandchildren, so I think it will be really special for her to get to meet the kids. What will they call her? Well, I figure for now she can just be "Mommy's friend Sheri." I just don't think the 3.5 year old mind can comprehend adoption...sometimes it even boggles the adult mind!

I suppose my one question is what does she look like now? The only pictures I have of her are quite old (circa 1992), so I'm really hoping for some photo ops. That is my one "burning question" I suppose. I'll have to post them after our visit.

In other Nepper news, I wanted to share a few photos from our Easter weekend away in Fort St. John, BC with our friends Jason and Anna. We had a good time. Its 7 hours of driving, but really it was a breeze...on the way there at least. On the way home I think they knew precisely what was coming (eg. 7 hours in a car seat). So they were a little more fidgety and whiny, but still, they did pretty good.

We visited Dunvegan Gardens (on which I plan to do a post entirely - so lovely!), this is everyone meeting the "guard dog" Rocky.
The neighborhood kids came over to see the new kids in town and let Abbi try out their bike.
Mommy & Gabey enjoying the sunshine.
Gabey & Teo enjoying a bath. It was originally Teo's bath, but Gabe persisted and Jason finally put him in. Eventually Teo was pointing at Gabe and saying, "Go, go."
Teo is 21 months, Gabe is 15 months.
Reika is an exchange student from Japan. Abbi adores her, and if you couldn't find her, you just had to look for Reika.
Gabe learning the ins and outs of a Caterpillar. Jason does work for Finning after all...
On the Sunday morning we set up an Easter Egg hunt for the kids. Abbi was all over this!
Gabe found his first egg and figured he better try it out before he continued...
This is after we took his eggs away after we discovered he stopped removing the tin foil wrapper. He had tin foil between his teeth all day!
Teo getting in on the fun.
Mommy trying to comfort Gabe after the crushing Egg Hunting experience.
Teo enjoying some breaky. So sweet.
Abbi & Teo reading Too cute.
On the way home I taught Abbi how to squat and pee on the side of the highway. I was fairly impressed with myself, and well, her. She was a pro!
It was a good time all in all, and I'm so glad we were able to spend our Easter with them.

Finally, I wanted to post some pictures of the elusive bubble quilt that I finally got this week. I had seen it at a friend's house awhile ago, but we had never got around to exchanging it. She was going to send it to the Goodwill, but I saved it! It is seriously the cutest thing ever. I've never seen anything like it, and I have been trying to describe it to a number of my quilting type friends. Of course my description is just plain confusing, so in this case, a picture is worth a MILLION words!
The Bubble Quilt. Adorable non?
Seriously, is this not the cutest thing you have ever seen?
The back (I'm sure there is a way fancier, more proper word for that!).
A closer look...
Sigh, don't you love friend's Goodwill piles? Rob was a little shocked when I was supposed to be coming home with a guinea pig (she pig-sat), but in addition to the pig, I had 2 giant boxes and 4 grocery bags. Ahem. Perhaps I have a bit of a problem, but my friend was quite pleased to see the reduction of her Goodwill pile :)
