Technically its the next two weeks that are absolutely crazy in my world. All because of school. I'm really feeling the crunch of taking two courses and having to divide up my time to accommodate each. Can I just give this week as an example?
Monday.
I was up at 6:00am. I studied my History until the kids woke up (around 7:30-8:00am). Then I went about my day. Then after 1:00-2:00pm when Gabe goes down for a nap and Abbi watches her movie, I study from 2:00 to 4:00pm (she's super into Finding Nemo, Aristocats, and Little Mermaid right now). On Mondays Rob gets home around 5:00pm (earlier than normal) so that I have time to get downtown to MacEwan for my 6:00pm Sociology class. I'm there until 9:00pm, basically taking notes the entire time. Phew...one day down.

Tuesday...repeat.
Minus the Sociology class, which is thankfully only once a week. Rob also teaches guitar lessons for a portion of the evening, so the kids and I are out of the house for an hour or so. Do more History once the kids are in bed.
Wednesday...repeat.
Although tonight I'm hoping to get out for a few hours and work on my History a bit more.
Thursday...repeat.
Rob has worship practice in the evening, so there will be no study break that night. Although once the kids are in bed, you know I will be hitting the books.
Friday...repeat.
Hopefully with another evening study sesssion.
Now before you go calling me crazy, there really is a method to this maddness and hopefully a very soon end to it all...
Basically I need to complete my final History assignment by Friday (5th). I'll e-mail it to my teacher once I'm done, and that way she can hopefully have my grade to me within the week. Then I'm taking from the 8th to the 12th to study for my final. The following Saturday morning (March 13th) I have to write my History final exam.
The only glitch my my super hardcore keener study plan is that I happen to have a Criminology midterm right smack dab in the middle of all of this! I have to write that midterm this upcoming Monday! Oy, the timing! So once my paper is done on Friday (because it will be done on Friday. I keep telling myself this), I will spend the weekend studying like a madwoman for this next midterm. Getting 102% on the last one does set a bit of a precedent, but heck, my head is mainly focused on History, so I'll take whatever he will give me on this one!
So technically once the pm rolls around on March 13th, this girl will be able to take a deep breath. I cannot wait! I will of course still have my Crim course, but its so much easier to just do one course. I have a large paper due on March 25th (30% of my final grade), but I figure 2 weeks is ample time to put out a rockin' paper.
And did I mention, on the pm of March 13th I will be allowing myself to indulge in some chocolate? Yes. If you remeber eating chocolate was supposed to be the motivator to complete my History course. And although I can't really say I'm really craving chocolate anymore, it will still be nice to have a little treat at the end of it all.

So that's my week in a nutshell. A week that is forcing me to utlitize good time management skills, much patience, deep breathing, and ingest plenty of good coffee.*

*PS. This would not be the time to remind me that I could still technically have 4 more years of this maddness ahead of me ;)
I thought you were nearly done your social worker degree? Why 4 more years?
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are being very disciplined. Good for you. I commend your hard work and study-habits. You are amazing super-mom.
xoxo
You've inspired me. And put me to shame. I no longer feel the freedom to whine about all my papers being due at the same time.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously - with grades like 102% I don't have a clue why you're studying as hard as you are. You know that once you're done no one asks about grades right?! ;)
Awesome work Holly!
